Me, Myself and Life

Thesis writing...

I never thought I would write a new post until I finish my thesis writing. Man ! Writing is hard. Especially technical writing, where I need to make real sense of what I did over the past two years. Guys! I know what you are thinking, did this blogger do anything productive at all in the last 2 years. Frankly, speaking I don't know myself but one thing is for sure I did waste lot of time :) and had tons of fun.

Here are few suggestions given by humble professors before thesis writing.

1) Your thesis has to be understood by anyone who is trying to read it, including 10th grade folks. Are other people that jobless to read (my) thesis ? Is it not sufficient if it is understood by the folks from the same research group.

2) It should be in a continues flow.
Is he talking about waterfalls ? Obviously, I try doing it but it never ends the way it is expected to :)

3) It should be meaningful.
Why the hell am I writing it then ? Huh!!

4) write lot of content, you can edit later.
Can I include the movie I saw yesterday ? So that I can edit later :) it throws lot of content for sure.

5) Think before you write.
Ho god ! Did I ever do thinking part in my life. No I just wrote what ever I felt all through my life, got through my gre, TOEFL and BE just by pure luck .

6)...
7)... These suggestions are endless and goes on.

After 2 weeks of the above suggestions, during the review process.
If your professor says 'You have done very good job, in this paragraph ?' don't get too excited and start telling him how ingeniously you got such a innovative idea and how much time you spent in this section. But the real fun part would be his next comment. Which would usually be "But do you think, is it really necessary in this section. REMOVE it". I warned you not to get excited before. Here goes all our one week work to thrash bin.

After deletion there is nothing much to review so the prof says to encourage us " Even though there is nothing much left, you done a Great job ! I am proud of you, Continue to work like this, you will finish it soon". Ho yah! I would finish my thesis writing as early as next year at this pace. We get out of the prof office, completely disappointed and dejected. On our way home, we plan the next week schedule in advance promising ourselves to do rigorous writing and finish atleast one chapter by the end of the week's and impress our humble prof.

We reach home, exhausted ( Why? Remember thinking drains brain, since we have done some thinking on the way, we feel exhausted, eventhough we haven't done much :D). After reaching home sitting in a cozy couch, watch T.V, have delicious dinner and sleep early to wake up early in the morning and start writing. But you know what happens next, the same old story ... the alarm keep ringing and we keep pressing the magic snooze button ( I love snooze concept, I recommend the inventor of snooze for a Nobel prize in Peace, how many people like us are enjoying it, ever thought of it ? :) )

In the middle of the day, every day before we start writing thesis, some important job falls at your feet from sky, so quit writing and get involved in the job. At the end of the work, we are usually tired and call it a day. Days pass by. The day before review comes and we write some crap and the next dayyyyyyy... Our usual dose of suggestions and reviews followwwwww ........

Hey! what do you think I am gonna do after this blog ? I am calling it a day:)

P.S. The characters in the above post are not from real life. Especially, about my professor. Believe me he treats me at his best, Iam damn lucky for that. And please if you are not of the types described above while writing thesis, don't criticise me, its just a blog. Cheer up !! :D

thanks for the wishes regarding my graduation in the earlier post. I need it.
