Me, Myself and Life

Webomania

This weekend, I went to Jimmy Davis national park along with my friends for camping, which is in the northern part of Louisiana. To tell you about the park, imagine a small piece of land in a huge lake and has a narrow passway connected to the land, only through which visitors are allowed to enter the park. Its completely filled with huge tall trees and deserted, believe me I didn't even see a single bird in the park. Hey, I forgot to mention, it has beautiful cabins to reside, a fireplace, a barbecue pit beside each cabin. You can call it as heaven in short, where you can make frequent visits :). There is no internet connectivity or even mobile signals in and round the park (Cingular network is patchy around the park, we need to find a spot to make a call), Its a perfect place to escape from rest of the world. I know, you guys are already missing the park isn't it !

We (I and my friends) made sure that we had all the stuff we need for the two night camping in our car trunks. We reached the park around 9 pm on Friday night, we got into cabins and started digging into our packages for food as we were already starving after the 3 hour drive. We could find our fill and then decided to watch a freaking horror movie GRUDGE (my sincere advice, never watch this movie when you are alone, it will definitely scare the shit out of you for sure, may be I will write more about this in the next post). After the movie, I had a strange feeling that I'm kind of missing something, naah its not girls ;), its something else. The next day was exciting as we had campfire and barbecue. Even though,we were rocking and having fun, over the night, I still felt as if I'm missing something important despite having my buddies around.

Next day, I found what I'm missing, its nothing other than internet connectivity, even having my buddies around. When I was in India, what I needed most is to hang out with my friends, and not caring much about anything else . But after living in USA for a while, I'm (may be WE all are) obsessed with internet, without it, I am like a zombie, my mind doesn't seem to listen to me. I love the feeling of checking my mails as soon as they drop into my Inbox, whether its important or not. (I can infer it to a mother teasing a child with his favorite toy, the child is always excited whenever the toy is offered to him, he never gets bored about it even if it is offered for thousandth time). I may not even read the mail completely , but its the internet connectivity that matters to check my mails and google around. I still don't believe, what a drastic change the internet had been to me over a short span of time. Its the same fear I named it as webophobia for this post, the fear of not connecting to internet ;) Let's admit it, can we live with out internet for a period time ? How many days you think you are gonna last with out internet ?

The Internet is like alcohol in some sense. It accentuates what you would do anyway. If you want to be a loner, you can be more alone. If you want to connect, it makes it easier to connect
